But He Himself withdrew [in retirement] to the wilderness (desert) and prayed. (Luke 5:16 AMP)
Hello! I have been gone for a minute, but always remembering all my faithful readers.
Today, I want to share what came to me today. By nature, I am a visual learner. In order for my mind to grasp things in a more profound way I have to see it. Like many of you I am too, an over thinker. I think and analyze EVERYTHING! At times I am guilty of going to the extremes. So to put my thoughts in order I use mind nodes or in old school lingo – brain maps. They help so much to create a visual escenario of what is going on in my mind. This way I can “see” the thoughts and “clean” those that do not need to stay.
As I was storming through the thoughts of the current process God is taking me through; I wrote my thoughts to get a better perspective. I can’t post everything I wrote, of course, but I do want to share the last link I added. I titled it “What God Wants.” When we follow God for a while we tend to wonder what God wants for me and what He wants us to do. Every time I go through a trial or breaking process that I need fresh godly perspective I add this title to one of the mind node branches. It helps me see and focus on the right thoughts that are in my head but the clutter of frustration, disappointment, and confusion don’t let me see.
Here is what I discovered that I KNOW but in the middle of the different situations that clutter my life I forgot…
Thinking this way will keep you on track. God bless You All! 😀
I wrote this some weeks ago and for some unknown reason neglected to post it. Maybe it wasn’t the time. Maybe now it is…
Wanting to distract my mind from daily pressures I sat at the seashore of the wonderful Arabian Sea. A marvelous spectacle of God’s majestic creation. Seating there I observe as the seagulls line up as if in a straight military line formation looking straight ahead. They were like contemplating the sea. There attention to it was to be admire. They’d were waiting as for the sea to bring them something. The seagulls just stared in observation. What a coincidence with me! I was like them just waiting! I was waiting for my thoughts to get settled. For these to organize at the same rhythm that I see the waves dance to. It worked for a moment but discouragement wanted to come in. How many times did I sat infront of life just waiting? In many ocassions that was the only thing I did because as the seagulls I stood observing what God will bring my path.
There are episodes in our lives that we are like those seagulls just waiting. Waiting for the miracle, the change, the showing of the fruit of our labor. Just waiting we have done everything. Our efforts are exhausted our prayers just have one song, God when?
I see the seagulls starring in expectation not only waiting without hope they know something is coming the sea will bring them food what they need.
Then comes to mind what God tells us, “If I take care of the birds in the sky wouldn’t I take care of you?” Sometimes we are willing to wait but our wait is not in absolute expectation but in skepticism. Our hope is low and our patience is lower. This when the enemy wants to take the last bit of hope we may have. It is at that moment where the Word of God becomes our strength. Our wait turns into a gentle breeze. In the least expected moment God ends our wait and we receive what we have been waiting for.
On This day remember waiting on God is worth the wait.
I wonder…How many times we strive to get noticed and to be acknowledge by other people? In our society that is the norm. We do not like to be anonymous to the whole world.
What happens when God allows that same thing you fear to come to pass? You are not noticed. No one acknowledges what you do or the effort you put. Would your frustration build up and explode before those that neglected you? Will you go above and beyond to make yourself noticed or would you sit, reflect and ask God what are You trying to teach me? This is where we get stuck. We forget that there is One that sees everything and knows everything…God.
Everything we do in our lives should be done to please Him whether people acknowledge it or not. We should not live trying to find favor in people. You will always disappoint someone. We should always look up to please Him who can reward us greater than any human being can. His recompense is far more abundantly than we can imagine.
On this day let God exalt you on His time. Even if he doesnt exalt you before men praise Him because you are pleasing Him with your obedience. The eternal life given by Christ’s sacrifice is the best reward for this obedience.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time… 1 Peter 5:5a-6
Are we all perfect? As Christians, I mean. Do we let ourselves believe that we are better than those that struggle day by day to find a reason for their lives? How many of us keep the posture, the talk and the ways of Christian life to the human eye? At the same time in the dark, on the blinded side of the human eye, there it is, the emptiness, the struggle, the doubt and more than anything, our tired soul laying on the floor thinking the next breath is the last. We rarely want to admit this, not even to ourselves. We are tired! We are destroyed and we seem to have lost focus of everything or worst of who we are serving. We have lost our focus in Christ in the midst of situations, loss and the sorrows that accompany. It is a destroying moment when you realize that, yes, I am not perfect.
What do you do then? Let your self die? The confrontation is so abrupt inside of us. We are Christians! We should not live in defeat! Our life is of victory and triumph! That’s what we hear and are taught. Sure, that is true. What we don’t understand is that we will go through downfalls like any other. We will struggle and have to fight more than others. That is called my friend, vulnerability. We forget that we are still in this flesh fighting every moment to achieve to go everyday from victory to victory. Remember though, in the battles there will always be losses. The choice is ours. What loss do you want to experiment, the loss of those things that God wants to take out of our life so you will be more Christ like or loose yourself in the battle and in the end die without achieving nothing? This is when dependence on God would be our ONLY help.
It is that moment when a firm decision has to be taken. You accept your vulnerability. You refuse to fight with your strength, knowledge and will. You commence to deposit every struggle in the hands of God and see how perfect His grace is to sustain you. We are not perfect; we will never be on this earth. The guarantee we do have is that the perfect One sustains and strengthen us as we more draw to Him.
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-11
Oh, the consumerism world! Where everything is geared to what we can acquire. The specific value of an item gives direction to the intensity of our desire for it. We have Amazon, EBay and so many sites where everything is so conveniently accessible with so much variety that it traps our senses for several hours without notice. If we look for something other ten show on the list distracting you from what initially took you there. Finally you reach the checkout point where you glance at your cart having twenty different items and none was what you initially needed. In the end you buy them and leave the site. A couple hours later you come back remembering that what you needed to buy in the first place you didn’t. Can you relate to this? I found myself doing this and shamelessly repeating more times than I should.
What makes us get so overwhelmed about possessions? There was a time in my life where possessions were the thermometer of my security. The more or better things I had the more secure I felt. There was emptiness in my life. Every time that feeling arose inside of me I would fill it with a new computer, a new outfit or anything that was pretty and made me feel good because of its monetary value. Oddly enough it was like my fulfillment sack had a leaking hole. As fast as I bought it the feeling of security would be leaking from me. There, in that moment, I would go back to the same cycle trying to find something else to satisfy. What was I missing? What did I need that no money could buy?
I was missing love. Not the love of a partner but the love that fills you and being filled with it you are able to feel love for those around you. The love that threw out all bitterness and selfishness from me. I was missing fulfillment. The fulfillment that could not be brought by a stable career, a fancy house, nice car or any material possession; it was the fulfillment of life. I am not talking about the life we are living but that deep sensation that we do not merely exist but we are actually living. I found that in Jesus Christ.
I have been living for thirty-three years and many out of those only existed. He filled that void, the emptiness that would leak at every try. He gave me life. A life in which my security no longer lies on what I can buy but on Him who paid the price for my sins. That is something that money would never buy and no rich man on Earth can place a price. This is the priceless gift given to us. It’s priceless because its value transcends from this Earth into an eternal life far greater than any possession that we would ever imagine.
On this day give priority to Him who makes you live and not just exist. The real security of life is not on the possessions or the financial security it only relies on the real valid security that is Jesus Christ as Savior of your life.
You may be facing the worst right now. Things are marching in opposite direction to your expectations. You have made big mistakes that have cost you. Have you ever thought about thanking God for those troubles and mistakes? Yes, thanking! Why? We always see failures as the rut. That which kills everything we thought could be possible. Failures are the most of which we can be thankful for. It is through them we discover our insufficiency and the small limits we have. We learn to rely on God alone not our resources or influence or strength. We should praise God when things do not work always in our favor because it is through them that we are drawn to the Only One that can do the impossible and has the power to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can imagine. Thank God for these situations you are facing. Count on God’s guidance in all. Most of all know that the most wonderful miracle that He would do will be in you. So praise Him! You will receive answer to your prayer and will see God’s marvelous work in your life! This will be the greatest gift you will receive.
December is considered the month of change for many. Woman start planning their after-Christmas weight loss program. Men think about their finances, jobs and families. People start thinking about what is to come on the new year and what changes they can do for it. They call it resolutions. Resolution is defined as the act or instance of resolving. They look into resolving what was left undone this past year, and in a certain way, mend it by trying again or determining a new approach. That is a wise choice if we actually act upon it. There is always room for change and improvement. It is always wise to change habits and behaviors in order to grow into a better person.
But what happens when we concentrate so much on making new changes and strategies for the daily things left undone that we neglect to look back at the most important part of our life in this past year? There is one resolution that people neglect to think or give importance to, their daily relationship with God. Have you given some thought about the resolutions you are going to make in your daily relationship with Christ? If you have one, how is your commitment level going to be? If you still don’t, are you willing to give Him the chance this year to be Saviour of your life? Without this particular resolution all other come to nothing. We need God for everything. When we give priority to our daily life with Him, He takes care and guides us in wisdom for everything else.
Don’t only concentrate on the daily life issues that have happened this year, but also reflect on how your relationship with God has been. Maybe the most resolution to determine this year is to make God the absolute priority in your life.
Psalm 34:1 says,
“I will bless the Lord at All times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth”
When do you bless the Lord? Do you just praise His name when things are good? Do you exalt Him when things go your way and according to plan? David understood the need to bless (exalt) God at ALL times. In good times and bad times. In desperate times and anxious times. If we only could get that in our head! It is dificult, I admit, when a problem arises to give praise to God, but that is exactly what He wants. Instead of complaining about the problem praise God for who He is, and that He has the infinite power to change whatever problem is in the way for your good. The question is, do you believe God is able? Faith takes you that level where even in the midst of the worst scenario you can bless the Lord.
Today even in this bad moment you are going through bless the Lord. You will see His wonderful love and presence cover you and strengthen you to keep on.
I know is the easy route giving up
When you are in the road
Leading everywhere except where you want to be
We sometimes think God’s road is not right
All because of our human mind
But looking closer we do see
His ways are higher than me
I wish I could go my way, I think
But my way has never got me where I want to be
It has just lead me to pain and shame
God’s road takes me from glory to glory through His grace
Today I will let Him lead the way
I may not understand it at first
But through His Word He will light
The paths of darkness I may find
I just trust over all and everything I see
God’s purpose in my life will be done
And no one will impede
How many situations do you go through every day? How many do you think you can be thankful for? Are you thankful for the good ones but not for the bad ones? Thankfulness is a whole. Thankfulness is defined as being pleased and relieved. When God is in our lives we can be please that He is by our side and relieved that He can do what we can not do. We have to be thankful for the whole thing, the good and the bad. Situations may not always line up with our desires or goals but in God’s plans for our lives they are lining up. Whether is seeing what you expected come to pass or not seeing it work as you expected be thankful. Thankfulness is gratitude to God. Is this wonderful praise that we have inside of us because we know God is good. He is in control of ALL situations in our lives. He knows what is best better than we do.
On this day just thank Him for what He has done, what He is doing, and what marvellous work He will do that will be a more glorious blessing than you have ever thought. God is in control.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
We go through so many things. In many of them feel so overwhelmed, anxious and just plain disturbed in our mind and hearts. When those moments arise is like our mind goes blank on what we are supposed to do. We think about everything thats wrong and how is affecting our life, but we just don’t seem to find the way to get through it. The simple answer lies in the reality of where our focus is. If our focus, even in the middle of the caos and disturbance, is Christ we have a surety inside our soul that we are not going through it alone. When our focus shifts from Christ to what we have encountered it becomes a rollercoaster of emotions that sometimes are so incontrolable even to the most spiritual Christian. What could we do in those circumstances we face that seem so impossible to bare? The answer lies in one word, Pray. This praying is not the one that you will hear from a pulpit with the elegant words. It is the prayer of supplication, rendition and need that comes from the deepness of your soul to the only one, the Almighty God, that can help you in this situation. It is not a prayer of quantity of words, but of a full trust in Whom is faithful.
On this day things maybe overwhelming and uncertain, but in the middle of thing know that prayer is the most powerful weapon to overcome any situation. Today pray knowing that God is there to listen.
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.
On this day…Every thing will be ok…
Don’t you love when in the midst of your worst moment someone comes and tells you,”Don’t worry everything is going to be ok.” The look on your face of wanting to grab them and pull them inside of you so they can really see what you are feeling and never again in their life say that phrase to you again. There are situations in life no one will be able to understand what you feel, how you feel and even understand why or what you are goin through it. Truly, they will not be able to help you. Why? Because the only One that truly can get inside of you and examine the deepness of your heart is God. No matter how many times you hear that phrase from people it is not the same as hearing it from God Himself.
He does know what you are going through. He does know how you feel. Most importantly, He knows the solution and the way to heal your heart. God has said it in His Word you just have to trust Him. On this day you may not like to hear that phrase from others, but learn that if God says it, it is true and He has control over your situation and will provide a way.
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
On this day God is in control…
On this day remember God will be with you in every situation big or small. Don’t over think it, over analyze it. He is with you. He takes care of you and is listening to your prayers! God will guide you. You will learn from this trial to get closer to Him. You will see His glory in your situation.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in The Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.
The key is to trust. Have a wonderful day knowing God is in control.
On this day stay quiet…
You know you are doing right and following God’s path for you when you face the enemy’s opposition. It is in those times that you are giving everything to Christ that the enemy responds with opposition, disappointment, and just using people to take you off the course God has intended for you. So what do you do? Do you sit and whine why me? NO! You stand up in Faith and trust God knowing that the battle is not yours is the Lords. Use the Word of God and His promises as your mental shield from the influence of the comments, reactions or attitudes that want to corrupt your path. Today remember that God is for you! You do not have to defend yourself. He will. Trust Him.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Hectic week but seeing the glory of God in different lives. This last week giving a Bible class to my youth I asked each one what made them sad and happy…The older ones responded with church, sports, games and other things…then the smallest about ten years old impacted me with his answer…He tells me that what makes him happy is knowing that Jesus is part of his life and is by his side….Then I asked what made them sad and he answers…That Jesus would not be in my life!!! The Word of God is powerful saying that we have to be like children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. We have to see our happiness based on Jesus and see our greatest sadness to be away from Him and not having Him in our lives. Is time to seek more and cling more to Jesus our Saviour!
On this day just think…
There are not much words that can be uttered at this moment. We are seeing so many terrible things that have been goin on that if I wanted to bring something jolly in some way our minds will drift from a very important thing. We live in such a hurried pace every day, and rarely take the time to think. Think about yourself, your family and most importantly your relationship with God. Times like these make us reflect on our own individual position in life and before God.
Think about all the things you want and then think of all those things that other people in the World don’t have it.
Think about the security you may have in your life and then think about those that have lost it and do not even know what is to feel secure in life with a shadow of constant threat.
Think about your family and the love you give them and then think about those that only have themselves and no one else to count on.
Think about what you lack and then still thank God you lack of them so that you can remember everything you have He will provide according to His will.
Think about your relationship with God, of His goodness to you and then think about those that have not heard of Christ.
Think about what is lacking in your relationship with God, and make every effort to get closer to Him.
Finally, just think about what needs to be changed. Times are not getting better and Christ is at the door. It is our time to think and act on the understanding that without God we can do NOTHING!
Lord, I cry out to You; Make haste to me!
Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You
